When Madonna’s “Music” album came out every young girl in the western world wanted to throw on a cowboy hat. At the time I happened to be in Rome. Walking down the Spanish Steps I was greeted by three shops owned by prominent designers, all of which had mannequins decked out head to toe in a ridiculous Madonna-esque Cowboy getup. A few years earlier I remember my younger sister (then 12, now 20) rushing out and getting a redish tinted “Jennifer Aniston” haircut. I don’t remember thinking it unusual then, but I do now.
