Disney reaches out to the nerds
March 11th 2009 20:49
Today Disney launched something called D23, a community devoted to diehard "Disney geeks," as Pop reader Kyle W. puts it.
If you're interested in the history of Disney, classic animation and more than just the latest blockbuster flick, you may want to check out the website. It gets its name from the year Disney started (1923) and includes a quarterly publication, merchandise, invitations to special events, an expo (Sept. 10-13 in Anaheim, Calif.) and more.
Unfortunately, full membership costs $74.99. The site does offer free features like a news feed and archived comic strips, though. Bookmark this page to read new Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Scamp comics every day. (I wish the scans were better, but this is only the first day.)
Who knows? Maybe 2009 will be the year I finally see Disney World for the first time ...
